Once a wasteland, now a garden
I love DIY Garden Transformation Crafting Projects. And nothing brings me more pleasure now than to peer out of the window and see birds coming to bath in the stream I built from scratch.
The bottom area of our garden gets the sun all year round, but was unused and overgrown. My wife wanted a feature gazebo, where we could eat in the evening during the summer without being cold. I suggested we enhance this idea by leveraging the inspirations from our extensive travel journeys over the years.
It became a massive task, not least as the sub-soil is heavy clay. And being at the bottom of a slope, was constantly waterlogged.
But now, it is finished, we’ve newts, frogs, dragonflies and numerous birds coming to visit, drink and bathe.

I am passionate about keeping busy and love the outdoors. I've since discovered that a little talent goes a long way too. Building a Pond
This turned out to be one of the hardest things I have done physically, not least as the soil is heavy clay below a light surface of earth. I also had never attempted anything quite like it before, so I had a lot to learn. It took weeks of digging and carting the earth uphill and two 8-cubic metre skips to haul it all away. Building a Waterfall
We all know that water goes down hill. But how do you get it up the hill first? And then how do you make it look natural? This took a huge amount of learning and trial and error. I ended up dismantling the waterfall 3 times just to get it right. And then once it was all built, I had problems with water evaporation and leaching into the earth.
What am I up to next?
Foremost, I love travelling, capturing moments, creating memories. After that, I then turn these into home movies. Some of these I share on my YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/@HindlesWorld/). Meanwhile, I’m learning how to create digital content. This is really hard to get right, besides the target audience I’m trying to attract may not use TikTok or Instagram. So please get in touch if you have some ideas, feedback or suggestions as to how I can improve. For instance, how do you engage or increase followers? Likewise, what are the correct “hooks” that grab attention? Is it REELS or POSTS or STORIES? In short, I’m trying to have some fun and my friends have suggested I share some of my projects online.
