Discover HOW to Make Travel Truly Worth It

Beyond price tags and star ratings, our TripWorthIt™ tool measures joy, comfort, and value so you can travel smarter.

Why We Created the TripWorthIt™ Tool

We’ve travelled extensively in 50+ countries, from Costa Rica’s rainforests, to luxury in The Maldives and stayed in bamboo huts on hidden islands in The Philippines. Cost doesn’t always equal enjoyment though when comparing travel destinations.

So we built a smarter way to measure our travel satisfaction; not just by money spent, but by the memories made, the comfort enjoyed, and the smiles per mile travelled, which ultimately comes down the amount  spent. Hence, the need for a TripWorthItTool!

The TripWorthIt™ Tool reimagines how we measure any type of holiday or business trip or combination thereof.

It blends comfort, connection, adventure, sustainability, and value to reveal what truly makes travel memorable; not by luxury, but by how it feels to live it. From five-star luxury in Oman to Egypt, to glamping in eco-resorts, it’s easy to find the sweet spot, using our tool, that make a lifetime of memories more achieveable.

Each journey we share is scored across these five pillars to help travellers compare destinations and discover experiences that bring joy, purpose, and perspective.

The HindlesWorld TripWorthItTool breaks down each destination into five balanced categories that reveal the true cost of enjoyment. But the tool adapts the score depending on whether you are:

🗺️ – An Explorer – Use the hotel as a base for further exploration

🏖️ – A Relaxer – Who has no intention of leaving the resort

💼 – A Road Warrior – Someone who travels for business and needs efficiency and comfort

🎯 – The Hybrid – Creating a mix between resort amenities plus local excursions

We focus on The Why, The How and The What for each persona and provide two simple ways to measure the best outcome before you book your next vacation.

You can then visually focus on those things that matter most to you and see where joy per £/$ is highest.

Put simply, sometimes the best room in a 3* hotel provides more value than the cheapest in a 4*.

The Five Pillars of Enjoyment

🗺️ - The Explorer

Comfort & Ease of Stay

How the hotel matches what you paid for. How effortless it feels once you arrive; smooth journeys, restful stays, and surroundings that let you truly unwind.

Because a great trip begins when comfort and flow replace stress and logistics.

Authenticity & Cultural Connection

Genuine encounters with people and place; local life, shared stories, and experiences that feel real.

Travel that connects you to a culture, not just a destination.

Adventure & Exploration

The natural beauty or vibe fits. The energy of discovery; new landscapes, local adventures, and those moments that make you feel alive. And it’s on your doorstep.

It’s not about thrill-seeking; it’s about curiosity, wonder, and going beyond the obvious.

Sustainability & Eco-Balance

Journeys that respect the planet, its people, and its future; travel that gives back more than it takes.

Ethical Tourism and Long-Term Stewardship has been considered.

The best adventures leave footprints of care, not impact.

Value Score

Upfront Value: Fair price for lodging quality vs. cost.

The balance between what you spend and what you truly gain.

Enjoyment per Spend: Was it worth it? Would you do it again at that price?

Because the best memories don’t always come with the highest price tag.

Compare Destinations by Enjoyment, Not Expense

Let’s see the TripWorthIt™ Tool in action…

A 14-day trip to Costa Rica might cost the same as a week in the Maldives: but which gives you more joy per pound? We absolutely love the beaches and service and have stayed in multiple Maldivian resorts. But we’ve all seen the pictures of spoilt holidays because it rained incessantly in the “dry season”!

By the same token, we thought the beaches in Costa Rica were, well meh! 🫤 You can’t beat the pink sand of Bermuda either!

Haritha Villas + Spa Review – Is this Hikkaduwa’s Best Boutique Resort?

After 54 days in Sri Lanka — 20 of them unplanned — we made one deliberate decision: end the journey properly. Haritha Villas & Spa, a boutique hilltop retreat five minutes from Hikkaduwa, gave us exactly the finale we needed. Seven private pool villas, a 30-metre infinity pool with views across paddy fields to the coast, and a butler model that puts every other resort service structure to shame. No room service charges, no fixed mealtimes — just a WhatsApp message to Chaminda, and whatever you need appears, wherever you want it. The food is outstanding. The birdsong at dawn is extraordinary. The spa, honestly, you can skip. At around £500 a night for bed and breakfast, Haritha isn't cheap — and we give you the full, unfiltered picture on costs, caveats and who this place is genuinely built for. We've scored it across all five TripWorthIt™ pillars and included everything you need to decide whether this hilltop hideaway belongs on your Sri Lanka itinerary.
